The wine is aged in large vats for 18 months and then transferred to oak barrels to age another 6 months. Aromas of damp soil (the good kind) and dark red fruits jump from the glass. Flavors of red currant, black cherries, and a slight wood spice. Medium to fuller bodied wine. This is a food wine that needs about an hour of decant time to breathe. Paired with most game or heavier meat dishes. This wine delivers great enjoyment and value.
