Nine years after closing in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, wine and spirits pioneer Martin Wine Cellar will finally have a homecoming.

The store will reopen in its original location at 3827 Baronne St. next week, after a lengthy construction project that has been underway since April of this year.

Founded in 1946, Martin Wine Cellar’s new, sleek 14,000 square foot space will serve as a hub for the Martin empire’s additional locations on Magazine Street and in Metairie, Mandeville and Baton Rouge. The market returns to a Baronne Street actively making a culinary comeback, from local butcher Cleaver and Co. to nearby home brew supply store Brewstock.
